La moda además de contar historias nos permite generar una identidad. La moda no sólo habla y se entiende desde la individualidad, también es un fiel reflejo de nuestro entorno, de un colectivo que construye nuestra realidad en un tiempo y espacio determinados. Así es como surge el libro Relatos de un Maniquí, Historia Contemporánea de la Industria de la Moda en Guadalajara, Jalisco, México; un proyecto de Jorge Lupercio y Sandro Cruz que sirve como registro histórico de los hechos y los personajes que han construido esta pujante industria en Guadalajara. Dos personajes que no sólo han sido testigos sino piezas angulares en el desarrollo de la moda en México por más de 4 décadas, y quienes decidieron plasmar a lo largo de 300 páginas la memoria colectiva de quienes integran la moda hecha en Jalisco. Una localidad que históricamente ha sido semillero de talento y creatividad, posicionándose como un referente artístico y cultural a nivel nacional e internacional. La moda es cultura.
¿Cómo surge la idea de plasmar la historia de la moda en Guadalajara en un libro?
Jorge: Desde hace 10 años comienza esta idea a partir de que tenemos muchísimo material de archivo, fotografías, revistas, diseños, etc. El proyecto fue evolucionando de ser un libro que hablara exclusivamente de la agencia de modelos "Maniquí" que fundé en 1987 junto con mi hermano Oscar Lupercio y Sally Rangel, hasta ser una memoria impresa abierta que retratara lo que ha pasado con la moda tapatía a lo largo de tantos años. Siempre estuvo pensado para que fuera un libro que sirviera de homenaje a la gente de la moda en Jalisco, específicamente de Guadalajara.
