9 de marzo del 2023. Es casi el final del invierno y la ciudad de Lisboa lo vive con clima amigable, la reapertura de terrazas y uno que otro evento al aire libre. Tras un día de recorrer las históricas calles de la capital portuguesa nos dirigimos al Convento do Beato –antiguo edificio del siglo XV– para conocer el lanzamiento de la más reciente colección Art Journey, de Swatch, en colaboración con cinco de los museos más prominentes del mundo, cuatro de los cuáles estuvieron presentes durante la celebración: el MoMA de Nueva York, el Museo Magritte de Bruselas, la Galería Uffizi de Florencia y el Louvre de Abu Dhabi. El love affair entre la casa relojera y el arte es innegable y se remonta a los inicios de la marca, cuando en 1984 (un año después de su fundación) se crea el primer reloj en colaboración con un artista. Se trató del creativo francés, Kiki Picasso, con una colección de 140 piezas de edición limitada que fue develada durante la exposición Copy Art que tomó lugar en París ese mismo año. Ésta marcó el inicio de una serie de alianzas –desde Keith Haring y Yoko Ono hasta el célebre arquitecto Renzo Piano– y museos alrededor del mundo como el Louvre y el Centre Pompidou de París, el Rijksmuseum de Ámsterdam, Thyssen Bornemisza de Madrid y el MoMA de Nueva York. Después de una noche de arte, conciertos y gastronomía local, nos encontramos con Robin Sayetta, representante del Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York, quién más allá de compartirnos los detalles sobre la duradera amistad entre la institución y la firma suiza, nos guio a través de su rol en el museo neoyorquino.
