After last month’s high-speed shenanigans, the last few weeks have been at a somewhat more sedate pace. For which my licence is eternally grateful.
Destinations
As I work from home nowadays, there isn’t any kind of commuter mileage getting racked up, so all of my travels are ‘going somewhere’, and rarely do I get to just go for a ride with no particular destination in mind.
While that isn’t really a problem – after all, riding a bike is always a joyful experience – it does sometimes mean that you’re not riding on the most engaging of roads. This was the case with my trip to the National Motorcycle Museum for the Saturday of its Museum Live open weekend. A trip through twisty Lincolnshire lanes for the first 45 minutes, and then the deep joy (ahem) of the A46, M1, M69, M6 and M42 for the following hour and a half. But, that said, it was perfectly acceptable on the Kawasaki, with cruise control set on the legal limit (ish) for all of the dual carriageway and motorway work, and the heated grips keeping the worst of the chill (thanks to a very wet trip there) off my pinkies.
