ANDREW Gale believes the strength in depth of his Yorkshire Vikings squad will prove vital as the T20 Blast progresses after downing the previously invincible Worcestershire Rapids.
Vikings defended a target of 180 to win by 12 runs and end Rapids’ three-match winning streak, with Gary Ballance hitting 40 before Tim Bresnan and captain Steve Patterson took three wickets apiece.
Vikings now have three wins from four, including two on the bounce after Friday night’s ten-run victory over Durham Jets, in which Bresnan and Matt Fisher helped themselves to two wickets each to help them defend 157.
With their full complement of internationals expected to return tonight, Gale claimed Vikings have quality throughout the lineup to continue the success, particularly encouraged by the performance against the Rapids.
“We’ve had a strong start,” said Gale, who took over as 1st XI coach in 2016 following a stellar playing career with the club.
