Baningime’s boundless energy, bite in the tackle and sharp, penetrative passes have helped set the tone for Everton’s high-octane performances.

The 21-year-old believes he is nearing his best again after what he describes as a “tough period” during the 2018/19 season.

DR Congo-born Baningime spent the campaign on loan at Wigan Athletic but a reoccurring ankle injury restricted him to a solitary appearance for Paul Cook’s team.
