THE arrest of a health worker at Government Tiruvannamalai Medical College Hospital (GTmCH) led to unearthing of at least three networks illegally selling anti-viral drug Remdesivir at exorbitant prices. among those held were an MBBS graduate and a pharmacy assistant in Chennai.

It started on Thursday with the arrest of one Vignesh, a health worker working on contract at the GTmCH. acting on a tip-off, cops attached to Civil Supplies-CiD (CS-CiD) secured the 26-year-old. interrogation of Vignesh led police to a MBBS graduate, Mohammed Imran Khan (25), based in Tambaram. Police said Vignesh had stolen the drug from Covid wards in government hospitals and handed them over to his contacts, who, in turn allegedly passed the drugs to Khan.
