A DEVON dad died of a severe bleed on the brain in Derriford Hospital 11 days after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine, an inquest has heard.
Adam Bounds died on May 31 this year having been transferred from Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for a neurosurgical intervention.
The inquest, held at Plymouth Coroner's Court, heard that the 41-year-old financial sales manager, who lived in Bristol but originally came from Axminster in Devon, had gone to a barbecue and later that night, after getting back to his parent's Axminster home, had felt cold. He went on to be sick in the night. Mr Bounds' father, Les Bounds, checked on him in the morning and found him to be very unwell. He continued to deteriorate to the point where his father called for an ambulance.
A report by paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service revealed that Adam had told them he suffered with migraines and that his pain score was recorded by them at that stage as "ten out of ten".
On arrival at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital he underwent a CT scan which revealed an acute right frontal lobe haemorrhage, which caused compression of the brain stem. He was then transferred to Derriford Hospital for neurosurgery.
