New-Look Light Festival Is Back In City For 2 Weeks

Illuminate is ‘bigger and better’

AN event which will light up the city with stunning displays, inspiring talks, workshops, film showings and performances, returned yesterday.

And Illuminate, a two-week long festival which this year stretches across Royal William Yard and the renovated Market Hall in Devonport, has been re-imagined to include contemporary events since it was last staged in 2019.

The team behind the festival, Real Ideas, say they have responded to customer feedback to create an even bigger and better event for all the family to enjoy and experience including responding to the climate emergency using a smaller footprint.

In light of the climate emergency and the pandemic, organisers worked with a diverse local and national artists alongside scientists, data experts, activists, architects, technologists and environmental experts to create the Illuminate 2021 programme.
