A DEVONPORT-BASED warship has seized more than one tonne of drugs worth more than £15 million in the Middle East.
Sailors and Royal Marines from HMS Montrose confiscated heroin, methamphetamine and hashish in the Royal Navy’s first bust of the year.
They launched a ten-hour operation in the Gulf of Oman which the Navy says has deprived criminal and terrorist networks of vital funding.
The frigate – which has been operating permanently in the Middle East for nearly three years since leaving Plymouth – was patrolling for a New Zealand-led task force in the Gulf of Oman when she encountered a suspect vessel.
