‘Give all school staff shots before return'

SCHOOL staff should be given jabs before pupils’ planned return to class after the February half-term, experts warn.

That must include all teachers, catering staff, administrators, caretakers and cleaners to keep children and their families safe, according to scientists.

The experts also demanded mandatory stays in secure Covid “hotels” for overseas travellers to keep foreign variants of the virus out.

Asked by the Sunday People if jabs were vital for school staff, Independent Sage virologist Professor Deenan Pillay said: “Yes, yes.”

“Schools are essential and we need to do our utmost to ensure all staff are protected. I fully support vaccinating them.”
