Plans to develop a breakaway league were revealed in April, with both City and United involved.
The two clubs joined with Premier League rivals Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, as well as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan to become founding members of the proposed competition.
The plans were met with widespread condemnation, leading to protests from supporters and, eventually, all six of the Premier League clubs pulling out.
