They were spotted by tourists on Rossnowlagh strand in Co Donegal and were reported to the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group.

Trained experts living in the area arrived at the scene around 1 pm yesterday to provide the stranded Northern Bottlenose Whales with first aid, using wet towels to keep them hydrated and relaxed.

Nicola Coyne, from Donegal, was first on the scene from the IWDG and said it was “quite difficult” to care for the dying mammals.
