Scientists said the “Covidsecure” Perspex barriers do not work if they block airflow or cause poor circulation in buildings.
And they warned that the screens can cause a build-up of bugs behind them, spreading the virus to people sitting nearby.
The experts said: “There are large numbers of screens that are unlikely to be effective due to their design or positioning.”
The Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies expressed their fears in an updated document.
