Carey would not have been making his Test debut if it wasn't for the indiscretions of former skipper Tim Paine, but at 37 it is hard to see how the former captain finds his way back into the side if Carey does well.
And with one of his best mates Travis Head alongside him in the middle order, Carey just might find life in the Test arena to his liking.
