QUÉ SE LE PREGUNTA A UN ROLLING STONE? El servicio de taxis desde Heathrow hasta la casa de Ronnie Wood, en plena campiña británica, a 40 kilómetros de Londres, oculta en un bosque de castaños, ha sido lo suficientemente eficaz como para llegar con media hora de antelación. Y en ese lapso de espera todas las dudas asaltan. Quedamos en el edificio adyacente a la mansión que Wood utiliza como estudio de pintura. Esa mujer es su esposa, Sally, y esas niñas sus gemelas del alma, Alice y Gracie. Y ese hombre que desbroza el parterre, el jardinero de la finca; y aquella otra señora, ¿quién sabe...? Ronnie abre las puertas de su casa y de su vida así, como si nada. Entras de repente en su revoloteo de gente querida y feliz en medio de Inglaterra. Él todavía no ha llegado.

¿Qué se le pregunta a un Rolling Stone? Huele a madera y a pintura. Sobre todo a pintura. Toneladas de pintura porque Wood dedica media vida (quizás más) a pintar. La casa es un desordenado museo de obras alucinantes. Hay una versión del Guernica en la que las espadas se tornan guitarras. Keith Richards protagoniza un apabullante estudio anatómico davinciano... Ronnie estudia piezas antiguas y las recrea a su manera, un glorioso cóctel de expresionismo, clasicismo y pop-art con el que ha roto los esquemas de la crítica. De repente aflora entre caballetes un inmenso Mick Jagger reencarnado en Inmaculada Concepción de El Greco. Lo escoltan como ángeles celestiales los retratos de Keith Richards, Charlie Watts y el propio Ronnie. Los Rolling Stones suben al cielo impulsados por una legión de músicos estilizados igual que las figuras del pintor cretense. Se titula The Show y no puedes dejar de mirarlo.
