SUENA EL TIMBRE Y ALFONSO HERRERA ABRE LA PUERTA. Con gesto amable y una gran sonrisa da la bienvenida a su casa en la Ciudad de México. Es una tarde lluviosa de finales de julio y de fondo suena una música que invita a relajarse después de una jornada de mucho trabajo. Herrera, de 39 años, decide sentarse a hablar en la mesa de la cocina, el lugar de la casa donde suceden las mejores conversaciones. “Paso mucho tiempo aquí”, dice el actor señalando la mesa de madera con cuatro sillas. Entre las paredes de cemento y cristal puede observarse un brincolín en el jardín, una portería de fútbol y dos hamacas que se mueven despacio con el viento. El oasis del actor es un espacio con pocos muebles y mucha luz, pensado para que sus hijos jueguen y sean felices.
La entrevista se realiza días después de la sesión de fotos para este número de Esquire. Lejos de los focos y la ropa de diseñador, Poncho, como le dicen sus amigos, viste una sudadera verde, pants negros y tenis. Hace unos meses su cara empapeló los cines de todo el país con la película ¡Que Viva México!, del famoso director Luis Estrada, y acaba de rodar en Argentina Tesis sobre una domesticación, junto a Camila Sosa Villada, bajo las órdenes de Javier Van de Couter. También ha visitado Ucrania en un viaje con ACNUR, la oficina de Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados, de la cual es Embajador de buena voluntad.
