Ravenous Redwings!

October is a busy month for the birds that make the 500-mile crossing from Scandinavia, braving the chilly North Sea to spend the winter months here in Britain. For these winter visitors our mild maritime climate is a better option than the ‘deep freeze’ winter experienced across northern Europe.

These autumn migrations mostly happen without us noticing. That’s because lots of species choose to do their travelling at night.
