The human mind is totally restless. One thought, then another thought - it goes on continuously. If the mind is not under control, it goes towards negativity. Dukha (pain) and Daurmanasya (sadness) are the terms mentioned in the Yoga Sutra. A worrying mind, a mind in a state of anger, a frustrated mind and an anxious mind need to be controlled. As soon as negativity comes in, we are supposed to remove it - we should know that this state is not the right state at all. We should somehow use any technique, basically healthy techniques like watching the breath, and even other activities like singing, reading, writing, and come to a state where the mind is not in this grip of negativity. That is very necessary.
