Madam Principal

I come from a very humble background. I am the sixth born in a family of ten and we were raised by a single mother in Gathuki-ini, Muranga. We really struggled to make ends meet. My father, who was a chief was detained in 1954 for 9 years for allegedly plotting against the British colonialists, so he was absent when we were growing up. We lacked the most basic needs, but my mom kept it together for us. I knew I wanted a better life for myself in form two.

I had visited a friend of mine who lived in Kiambu and I was intrigued by the city lights in Nairobi as we passed through. So this Village girl who had been taught to study, become a teacher and get married to the son of the neighbor defied all that and ended up enrolling to Kenyatta University, and graduated with a Diploma in Education got married to my campus sweetheart and as they say the rest is history.

As an Educator, I encourage and provide my students with opportunities to develop morally. Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) is an academic environment where students are also taught life skills. I use a different method to train my students. I have a set of rules from the time students; come through the school gate, they undergo a vigorous search and we are also particular about dress code and time keeping. My ultimate purpose is to provide students with the chance to dive deeper into their field of choice and give them the skills they require to excel professionally. My instructors and all school staffare also encouraged to adhere to the values that they teach.
