NEW DRAMA
Dublin Murders
MON & TUE / BBC1 / 9PM (TUE, NI, 10.35PM)
On-screen detectives often have their troubles, but Cassie Maddox and Rob Reilly, the crime fighters at the heart of BBC1’s new thriller Dublin Murders, have more traumatic personal problems than most to deal with.
Based on the first two novels in Tana French’s best-selling Dublin Murder Squad series, In the Woods and The Likeness, the stories have been adapted by Sarah Phelps, who also penned BBC1’s recent Agatha Christie dramas And Then There Were None and The ABC Murders.
The eight-part drama is set in Dublin in 2006 during the Celtic Tiger financial boom and centres on English homicide cop Rob, played by Ripper Street star Killian Scott, and his Irish detective partner, former undercover officer Cassie, played by Penny Dreadful’s Sarah Greene.
The pair are called in when the body of teenage ballerina Katy Devlin is found in the woods, but as the case brings a chilling trauma from Rob’s own past to the surface, dark secrets that both he and Cassie have kept hidden are threatened with exposure.
TV Times spoke to Killian, 34, and Sarah, 35, to get their case notes…
