It’s a fresh new year and actress Gal Gadot is more than ready for whatever life might throw her way. The 35-year-old shot to fame as the iconic superhero in 2017’s Wonder Woman movie reboot and the latest sequel, Wonder Woman 1984.
She’ll be seen later this year reprising the role in the Justice League TV series, and is also starring in the Netflix movie Red Notice. The former Miss Israel 2004, who is married to Dutch businessman Yaron Varsano and is mum to two daughters – Maya, three, and Alma, nine – is proud to be a role model to not just them, but young people across the world.
Now the third highest paid actress in the world, she did her mandatory military service in the Israeli army when she was 20 and then went on to study law while modelling and acting.
Here, Gal talks about pay equality for women, how much she loves her fans and reveals she’s a tomboy at heart…
Hi Gal. How do you make a superhero relatable?
I thought it would help if we showed her flaws and that she is not perfect. She can be the greatest warrior and at the same time she can still be naïve, curious and blunt. She can be focused on her mission, but also worried. Personally, I love the fact she owns it, she knows she’s not perfect and it’s fine. That’s what makes her interesting.
