Chloe Madeley has many strings to her bow. As well as being the author of three fitness books, the 32-year-old is also a qualified personal trainer, nutritionist and has her own podcast, The Bodcast. But as a self-confessed workaholic, the star admits that she found the first few weeks of lockdown “stressful”, and it was her husband, former rugby player and I’m A Celebrity… star James Haskell, who made her slow down.
“If it wasn’t for James, I’d have driven myself into the ground,” she tells OK!.
Here, Chloe opens up about anxiety, bickering with James, and if they’ve been in touch with Harry and Meghan…
You’re in incredible shape. Have you got a home workout regime?
Yes, we’ve turned the garage into a gym. I used to suffer from really bad anxiety, but when I started weight lifting, specifically, I started to feel a lot stronger mentally so it became an easy habit to enforce. It changed my life. Now, when I have a rest day I can’t wait to get back to training.
Have you had anxiety in lockdown?
I’ve struggled trying to find a balance with work. I’ve been putting too much pressure on myself. I feel like if I’m not giving 100 per cent to work, and take a day to relax and get drunk, then I’m failing myself. James is really good for me like that because he noticed it by week two or three and said, “You have to take a day off.” Now, James plans the weekends and we drink cocktails and order pizza – there have been a few hangovers! We’ve had some of the best Saturdays we’ve ever had in lockdown.
Have you and James bickered at all?
