Why Being A Groom Is A 'Proper Job'

WORKING as a groom is a “proper job”, with opportunities to learn and achieve qualifications as well as other benefits, industry professionals have stressed.

Although it has in the past been seen by some young people — and their parents — as a job rather than a sustainable career, apprenticeship provider Stubbing Court Training (SCT) is keen to prove otherwise.

“There are some fantastic jobs going,” SCT chief executive Belinda Turner told H&H. “You can see the world, learn, work with really good horses, it’s wonderful; you don’t get those opportunities in other jobs.”

Ms Turner stressed that working as a groom can be a long term, sustainable job, as proved by some of those SCT works with.
