As he unveils his second collection titled ‘SindooR,’ the scion of Gem Palace Jaipur, Siddharth Kasliwal, raises the bar on his father’s impassioned legacy
Rubies, emeralds, sapphires… while for others these might be precious stones, for Siddharth Kasliwal these gems were his playthings as a child. After all, he is the ninth generation jeweller and Creative Head of Gem Palace, a family-run company that is associated with big, bold baubles. Often imitated but never duplicated, the Jaipurbased brand has been a pioneer in crafting the most intricate, jaw-dropping designs in the market. So much so, that many have been featured at some of the biggest art institutions in the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Kremlin. Indeed, it was because of the exhibition at the Kremlin that Kasliwal began to dig deeper into his late father’s archives, where he found a traditional Mughal style Sindoor box made of rubies that caught his eye.
