Semerkand English Magazine greets its readers in the January issue with the feature article “Our Path, Our Character.”
Written by Nuri Keskin, the article reflects on the oft-repeated Qur’anic and Prophetic teaching that “the life of this world is but a journey.” It seeks answers to questions such as: What virtues and moral qualities must a person carry on this journey? What principles safeguard one from straying or stumbling on the path to the Hereafter? It further examines the noble virtues and moral values that distinguish Islam from other religions and ensure its vitality until the end of time.
In his article “Religion is Sincerity,” hadith scholar Selim Güneş offers a profound interpretation of the Prophet’s well-known saying, illuminating its meaning with clarity and depth.
Our regular column “Reflections From the Age of Bliss” this month tells the story of the Companion Amr b. Jamuh, who was lame in one leg, recounting the moving event that led to his embracing Islam.
Also featured is “An Islamic Perspective on Time and Space” by the renowned Turkish hadith scholar and academic Abu Bakr Sifil — an article we believe readers will particularly appreciate.
Finally, the intellectual writer Halil Akgün, known for his thought-provoking essays, challenges and inspires with his contribution titled “Who Are We?”
