Last month was a golden month for our country, we had three events worth cherishing. Chandrayaan 3 landing, chess prodigy Praggnanandhaa’s FIDE
world cup finals and Neeraj’s Chopra’s gold javelin throw. Amongst these, what really provided a rare moment of unity was the Chandrayaan 3 landing. Over 8.5 million viewers watched ISRO's YouTube channel the successful soft landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the moon. The whole country was ecstatic. You name the place: outside bus stops, metro stations, railway stations, cafes, airports, planetariums, offices and on private screens, all eyes were transfixed on the screen witnessing history. This has inspired not only our countrymen but the entire world. ISRO is stepping up as a formidable global space power.
This mission aims to collect images from the little-explored lunar south pole, the first spacecraft ever to reach that region of lunar real estate, which cannot be observed from Earth. From launching satellites to exploring places no man has gone before, ISRO has gone a long way, exploring space for scientific benefits. This landing has made India join the elite club of countries: The United States, The Soviet Union and China.
