Traditionally, when we had babies, we were surrounded by a support network that consisted of family, friends, and neighbours. Modern society has moved so far away from this traditional village, that we are left wondering where everyone is. Building your village can include leaning on your friends and family, getting to know other local parents who live near you and taking part in group activities where you will meet other parents. Chatting to parents at the park, swimming lessons, or breastfeeding class can open so many helpful doors. You may meet a new parent friend who could use your help, too. Pregnancy sickness often feels like a different type of nausea to anything you may have experienced before, almost like a mixture of being hungry, jet-lagged and hungover. But before we hate on this pesky symptom too much let’s make sure we understand why it may happen to us. And if ‘morning’ or pregnancy sickness does impact you, please know that you are not alone. Pregnancy sickness is thought to affect the majority of women around 85% and half of these women will also experience vomiting. Midwife Pip Davies has some top tips for managing morning sickness.
