The July/August issue of ArtAsiaPacific features London-based Filipino artist Pio Abad, whose obsession with the Marcos family has resulted in works that explore the influence of their power in the creation of national identities and political regimes in the Philippines; Hale Tenger, one of Turkey’s most daring and politically engaged artists; and a study that spotlights the artists and curators working in Japan who choose to reject government support in order to sidestep potential censorship when commenting on post-Fukushima life. For our special column, Inside the Burger Collection, Tra Nguyen, general manager of Vietnamese nonprofit Sàn Art, pens a short story about an uncanny conversation with a mysterious character.
