Spontaneous. That is normally what we associate with the creative process of making art. The opposite is actually true for many of us. As artists, we wrestle with the picture in our minds eye and try to pin it to the canvas as best we can. What inspires us, needs to be expressed as fast as art can possibly happen. We run the danger of not having the right tools to pin down that fleeting inspirational moment. One of those tools is called composition. In specific: the Rule of Thirds.

True To His Roots

Artist, father, husband and entrepreneur, Keith Zenda was born into a rural family with four siblings in Chirumanzu, Zimbabwe. After the death of his father, he was raised by his mother and from the age of 10 became the head of the household. A natural provider and nurturer, Keith is still involved in uplifting those less fortunate than him. For more than a decade he has been peddling his artworks, sometimes against all the odds, across borders from Tanzania, Botswana and Mozambique to Cape Town, evoking respect and admiration from all those who meet this hard-working talent.

Ignatius grew up surrounded by art. His parents were both avid art lovers and collectors. During his student years he met the legendary artist Gregoire Boonzaier, who become both a mentor as well as a major source of inspiration. He credits Boonzaier as the person who taught him what it would take to be a professional artist.

A typical day for GIFFORD (GIFFY) DUMINY could see him hanging off 10-foot scaffolding, standing in a cherry picker four stories above the ground or on the rare day of rest, catching waves in the surf off Durban. All About The Light

Peter Stewart’s love for the African bush began with a school excursion to a local game reserve in KwaZulu-Natal. “I can still remember sleeping under the night sky next to the safety of a fire, listening to the sounds of the African night and waking up at the crack of dawn to begin the day”.
