Vir baie van ons was die afgelope jaar soos 'n woestyntyd. In ons Oktober-uitgawe vertel lesers van hulle trauma-ervarings na hulle geliefdes alleen moes sterf. Erica Wessels getuig hoe dankbaar sy is vir 'n nuwe seisoen na háár woestynpad om swanger te raak. Teoloog Stephan Joubert skryf: "Die Here se goedheid is nie minder werklik hier in 2020 nie. Ons moet net ons oë daarvoor oopmaak. Ivor Swartz, vandag jeugpredikant, getuig ook hoe sy hemelse trooskos in menslike gedaante na hom gestuur is in die rooigrondstrate van Grabouw.

Jy is 'n lewende brief!

Pen en papier kan dinge losmaak, gesond maak, mooi maak. Gedurende die saamstel van die September-uitgawe van LiG het ons met vele mense en oomblikke te doene gekry rondom skryf, papier en ink.
En ons harte loop oor van vreugde- en dankbaarheid-ink in die LiG-kantoor. Wat ’n voorreg om ander se lewensveranderende briewe te kan lees; Suid-Afrika se geliefde sonneblom-vrou Susan Coetzer beter te leer ken; en grepies van ander se pyn en hartseer met ink vas te pen.
Sangeres Nadine Blom deel met ons die emosies wat sy probeer het om vas te vang in ’n brief toe sy die nuus van haar suster se afsterwe ontvang het. Wat selfs meer hartsverskeurend is, is dat sy eers ná haar suster se dood ’n briefie ontdek het wat haar sus weer vir háár geskryf het ’n paar weke voor haar dood. 
Daarin staan onder meer: “Jy, my sus, tel my op, jy sien my ... Ek glo ons sal mekaar weer sien voor die lewe uit een van ons twee se oë uitgaan.”
Om só oor jou seer, trauma en ervarings te skryf, is ’n vorm van terapie, vertel dié wat weet. Skryf kan jou ook help om jou geestelike reis met God te verdiep. In die September-uitgawe vertel ’n klompie LiG-lesers hoe waardevol ’n Bybeljoernaal vir hulle is. Daarin skryf hulle hul gedagtes, emosies, Bybelverse en gebede neer.
En dan is ons span in die LiG-kantoor veral geroer deur die skrif van Paulus, waar gelowiges "lewende briewe van Christus" genoem word. 
Jesus het in ons lewe geskryf, sê Hy, nie met ink nie, maar met die Heilige Gees. En nie op papier nie, maar op ons hart (2 Kor 3:3).

Miskien is jy ’n ouma of oupa wat na jou mense verlang. Of dalk wil jy lees oor ánder oumas en oupas wat ons hierdie maand geïnspireer het.
In hierdie uitgawe – opgedra aan elke ouma en oupa in Suid-Afrika wat tans in afsondering, en dalk eensaamheid, tydens die Covid-19-pandemie leef – lees jy hoe bekende kokke en huiskokke sekere geure en geregte oproep ter herinnering aan ’n geliefde ouma. Soos Tiaan Langenegger wat vertel van sy buitengewone ouma Marie, en dat sy liefde vir kosmaak by haar begin het.

God het ’n passie vir siele, en ons is sy medewerkers. As ek wil vergeld, staan ek nie onder God se gesag nie; dan is ék die gesag.”
'God is jou eerste afspraak' vertel ’n Boer soek 'n vrou-deelnemer na lang alleenpad.
