Summer always conjures up visions of alfresco dining with friends, long picnics at the beach with family and dream vacations. We took that wanderlust to the extreme in this issue with a trip to a private island in Tahiti once owned by Marlon Brando and followed that up with a trek to the Maldives. The latter was a once-in-a-lifetime journey that I’ve always wanted to take, and I was fortunate enough to embark on these luxurious trips almost back to back. I still can’t decide which island was my favorite (people keep asking)—but both were exceptional. We hope that you’ll agree and brave the jet lag on your own journey sometime soon. Back down to Earth, our cover story on David Cooley, by writer Andy Wang, not only celebrates 25 years of The Abbey but offers insight into Cooley and his past that few have ever seen or heard. It’s nothing short of a great read! We love the opportunity to celebrate an institution in this issue, but discovering new places in the neighborhood is always a treat, too—especially when they will help you to look and feel your best all summer. We have stories on amazing new beauty options from top-notch affordable facials to custom-blended perfume in a chic shop on Melrose Place to a cool man cave salon for men. Your summer party plans might include spending time on the roof of the London West Hollywood with incredible sweeping views of the city, so be sure to read our pro le on its new lifestyle liaison Lindsay Luv, and nd out what fun is in store for guests this season. For more nightlife and dining options in West Hollywood, sbe Entertainment Group brings us The Doheny Room, designed by David Rockwell, that should t the bill for an after-work drinks meet-up, while The Guild on Sunset will be perfect for that cozy dinner or long alfresco lunch on the patio—and don’t forget the rosé. Cheers to a great summer!
