2008 has been a year of superlatives - both good and bad - whether you’re straight or gay, South Asian or not. In the final issue of 2008, we bring you an interview with Trikone Magazine’s Person of the Year, Sunil Babu Pant, pioneer of the queer rights movement in Nepal and that country’s (and South Asia’s) first openly gay member of parliament.

Another year rolled in and another Pride made us proud.

This issue covers the various angles of the section 377 ruling and how it affects us all. It may take decades, for the battle has just begun.

This issue is themed काश (Kaash) – If. Life keeps moving on, since when it stops it meets its death. Though some times, the heart wishes, काश.

This issue is themed (Marhaba) – a welcome tiding. It celebrates what we have achieved so far in the struggle to express our love equally and what more needs to be achieved still. It's time to get back in your hands! Time keeps flowing and makes sure our conviction stays strong. This release is special as it sees many misses and removals from our journey of life.

The end of 25 years saw a day christened after us, recognised by thousands and looked up by many more.

The passing time and tide strengthened the conviction to face all hurdles and emerge successful. Even though we are proud to have withstood the test of time, we still have many more goals to achieve, many more hearts to win and many more lives to touch.

Quarter Century - I guess enough has been already said.

We reach a new milestone this time, completing 25 years. A quarter of a century has passed by and we humbly thank all our readers for supporting us all along. It\'s a
feat which couldn\'t have been achieved without the continuous love of our readers, writers, volunteers, members and everybody else who knowingly or unknowingly
influenced the magazine and made it what it is today.

Even though we are proud to have withstood the test of time, we still have many more goals to achieve, many more hearts to win and many more lives to touch.

This year has had many uplifting moments. Our feature story will provide a comprehensive report of Kashish - Mumbai International Queer Film Festival from the desk of its organisers themselves. We don\'t just stop there; we interviewed Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil to learn about his views, fights and his accomplishments.

In this special double issue, sandwiched between Pride season and Coming Out Day in October, we want to celebrate those who are out and proud about their lives and loves and who make it easier for others to find the freedom to express their true selves. Since this is also Trikone Magazine’s 23rd anniversary, our cover story, 23 Reasons to be Proud, profiles 23 high achievers from across the globe, who have, through their talent, hard-work and passion won great success and recognition in their fields. And who, by being out, serve as rare guiding lights and role models for us all.

Who would have thought in the wake of Proposition 8, last December, that come spring, same-sex marriage would have gained an air, okay a whiff, of inevitability. Gains in same-sex marriage rights in the past few weeks have left most people surprised and the conservative right off balance. Iowa and Vermont legalized same-sex marriage, D.C. decided to recognize same-sex marriages performed legally elsewhere, and in Maine, New Hampshire, and New York, marriage bills were either introduced or progressed through the legislatures in rapid succession.

In Dreamgirls, the movie, Jennifer Hudson's indomitable character Effie, trying to make a fresh start, crooned her way into a new gig and set herself back on the path to success with a direct appeal to her audience.
