The first full month of Summer has us pondering other firsts…like the Golden State Warrior’s triumph in the NBA finals.  That deserves a parade…and we have the pixs.  As basketball exits the sports fan’s consciousness, baseball is in full swing with football’s pre-season soon to be rushing in.  We spoke with a new San Francisco Giant - Justin Max-well - and tackled San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback - Colin Kaepernick - for an exclusive five minutes during his recent ProCamp.From driving celebrated athletes along a parade route, we transition to athletes in race cars as we cover numerous races of IndyCars (the Texas 600 and Fontana MAV TV 500), two days of NASCAR racing (the Toyota Save Mart 350 and K&N Pro Series West race), a Formula One contest in Austria and interview a young driver about her career. As March rolls in, we look forward to the start of the 2016 IndyCar season on the 13th with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Florida.  Our experiences covering the race and meeting the people involved in the sport were nothing short of spectacular…and we can’t wait to do it all over again.  As a lead-in to that effort, we sat down with IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden to talk about his life as a professional race-car driver.

We started with the concept of health and fitness for the new year…then we met our cover model, Colin Wayne.  Oh My!  Form met function in all of our imaginations and that vaulted our minds to the world of Dance…and Acting…and of course the combination of the two in the personage of Valery Ortiz.  A half step sideways had us looking at two contestants on the So You Think You Can Dance franchise.  And let us never forget that athleticism is a form of exhibition of what the human body can do…and our exemplar for this is soccer star Neymar.

It is a New Year and, as ever, we embolden ourselves to tone, firm and train our bodies to achieve our desired forms towards the cause of promoting our general health…that is, until we must collapse on the couch from exhaustion.  That’s where a good game of American football comes in…like the contest between the Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos.  And lest we forget our local franchise, a star on the horizon is ascendant.

This month we feature designers – Versace, Louis Vuitton, Ilja and desigual (Barcelona).  

Our Entertainment and Community sections both involve ESPN – first in the form of their 2015 ESPY Awards…and secondly on the fairways and greens via the ESPY Celebrity Golf Classic.

Oh my Lord we went just about everywhere this month covering Sport.  From the exhibition game played locally between FC Barcelona and Manchester United to the Indy Series ABC Wisconsin 250 to Serena William’s triumph at Wimbledon and MotoGP racing.  We even took in a Home Run Derby held in Cincinnati sponsored by Gillette.

Pulling up our sagging knee socks we sat down with San Fancisco Giant’s pitcher Jeremy Affeldt for a heart-felt interview and also spoke off-track with driver João Barbosa about endurance auto racing.  It takes a team…in both instances.

In completing our rounds, we chatted with the legendary group Earth, Wind and Fire prior to their performance in San Jose and want to share one of our after-hours reads - The City of Palaces by Michael Nava – about pre-revolutionary Mexico.  My lineage runs through that era so his story was of special interest to me.

As I “Save-As” and ship this missive off to Cheryl for final corrections, I hope you find something of interest in this month’s effort and continue to follow (and read) us in the future.
