From the end of March to early April 2017, three batches of real heroes who are no longer young but are full of energy and passion, arrived at the NFA Training Center as 17th Volunteer Firefighter Senior Supervisor Training Course trainees. The two-day and one-night raining course prepared them to take up positions as volunteer firefighter commanders and deputy commanders.From March 20 to April 6, three batches of trainees received 12-hours of training over two days and one night,the training intended to raise the duty-support capability level of volunteer firefighters by training high level leaders. 91 senior volunteer firefighter supervisors from across Taiwan took part in the training course, 23 of them women, accounting for 25.3%, the highest percentage ever, adding a gentle touch to the masculinity of the course.The course had both theory and practice elements. The main themes of the classes were Introduction to Firefighting Work Today and Future Development Directions. NFA Director General Chen Wen-long and Taichung City Government Fire Department Director Xiao Huan-zhang were invited to present lectures on fire policy, practice and future development directions. The NFS deputy director general and related operational units also gave lectures and engaged in exchange with trainees. The aim of the course was to give volunteer firefighter senior supervisors a better understanding of current fire policy and future directions, establish new ways of thinking and effectively raise the duty-support capability of volunteer firefighters.
