The Men’s Folio October 2021 Brave New World issue is a product of what the magazine’s previous Editor-in-Chief Wilson Lim and his team have aspired to for over three years. How could they produce a magazine that aims to provide inspiration and context on the happenings of today's modern world while focusing on the beating heart of what makes Singapore, Singapore.

What does it also mean to be brave in today’s world? One that is fraught with difficulties and uncertainties? Perhaps, an opinion piece by Dylan Thomas Seah-Cheang (a 20 year old helming SANO-D, a local disinfectant brand) and his grandfather puts it best. Sometimes, one has to dive in head first after drawing on the richness and experience or his past. Even the three athletes profiled in collaboration with Y-3 led by Art Director of Integrated Media Izwan Abdullah and Fashion Stylist & Writer Manfred Lu have an important point to push across: continue doing what makes one feels the most confident, the rewards and revelations will slowly unfold.

Also featured within the magazine is the second edition of our Blue Ribbon Watch Awards, a concept dreamed up by Watch & Features Editor Asaph Low to highlight what makes a timepiece truly tick today. Nods to sustainability, mobility and personality are what crowns these eight timepieces as pieces to cherish and love today, heirlooms for future generations.

Lastly, our cover stars JUN. K and CHANSUNG of 2PM reflect too on what the messaging of music should be today. Uplifting, motivational and with an ability to transcend languages and cultures. And in true Men’s Folio fashion, Asaph has managed to tickle some trivia out of them. CHANSUNG’s trivia is particularly potent: no matter one’s standing in society or importance in a group, make sure to treat them equally well.
