Magazine Description

In this issue

There really isn’t a better time than now to turn our attention to the environment – no thanks to recent aberrant weather. Prestige hereby presents our green edition. We have on the cover our Vanguard Award 2021 winner, Dr Jessica Lee of Mandai Nature. You may not know who she is yet, but in time to come, the low-profile but high-impact work of this conservation biologist and avian expert will become ever so apparent in our lives. Joining her in our cover story on green stewardship are four other personalities who will take Singapore and even the world into a more eco-conscious future: Emily Sim, Ricky Lin, Sam Shu Qin and Dr Thomas Reindl. Apart from Dr Jessica Lee and Emily Sim, who are from our 40 Under 40 – Class of 2021 cohort, we are also glad to rope in another laureate, Edris Boey, to pen a wealth column on the fundamentals of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) investing. In fact, this green theme is featured across our entire magazine, demonstrating the fact that luxury and consumerism can indeed coexist with this new world order of sustainable practices and sensitivity to the world around us. The publication of this issue also coincides with the Mediterranean yacht show season, and in our Lifestyle section, you will find a Cruise and Yacht Special filled with the latest international highlights and launches. Some cruise itineraries will take you to the wildest and most remote corners of the earth – a wonderful opportunity to witness the splendour, as well as fragility, of nature. While the maritime industry is known to be pollutive, we are heartened that leading the charge to protect our land and sea are some of the most premium cruise and yacht-building companies. As Celebrity Cruises says and other industry players would agree, they are all “mariners on the world’s oceans”. So, come sail away with us this issue and be part of the tide towards a better world.
