An Unexpected Angle “Ice” is the title of an exhibition in the Neva Curtain of Peter and Paul Fortress. All the exhibits — painting and graphic art, decorative applied art and household objects — are linked in some way to the ice and give visitors the opportunity of looking at the history of daily life in St. Petersburg—Leningrad from a new, unexpected angle. They recall, for example, the Ice Palace built on the orders of Empress Anna Ioannovna, the blessing of the waters and parades at Epiphany, the ice slides at Maslenitsa and the outstanding episodes in the exploration of the Arctic which are linked with the city.
