A numerous (and extremely friendly) landing force will disembark in the Philharmonic Great Hall on 4 October: the RAI National Symphony Orchestra. Under the baton of Marco Angius the Italian Radio and Television Orchestra will play works by Rossini (Overture to “Semiramide”), Paganini (Second Violin Concerto), Nino Rota (music from Federico Fellini’s film “The Road”) and Rachmaninov. The five Rachmaninov etudes are, however, not gatecrashing the Italian programme: they were orchestrated by Ottorino Respighi, a great lover of Russian culture, a pupil of Rimsky-Korsakov and the composer who brought back world renown to the Italian classical music. The soloist will be the wonderful Italian violinist Anna Tifu.
