在我的印象中，农历新年是开心的日子，更是仪式感满满的佳节。
每一年新年前一个月，妈妈便开始打扫、安排油漆篱笆、把柜子里珍贵的锅具拿出来清洗（老实说，我问过妈妈为什么不用，她的说法是—等娶媳妇的时候再用）。
更喜欢临近过年，帮妈妈做蜜蜂窝、番婆饼、鸡蛋糕、炸虾饼等；挨着清晨冷风，陪妈妈到菜市去买食材。时至今日，这些动作成了我过年前坚持一定要做的事，糕点香气随着春风飘到屋子里的每一个角落，仿佛做了这一切，才像个过年。
手作糕点，成了妈妈每一回在这大日子与两家人、亲朋好友‘公关社交’的润滑剂。要知道，那个年代没有车、也没有FB、IG，久违的亲友还真的是久未碰面，而大家一下就打开话匣子，礼尚往来中，找到那一份珍惜情怀。
在我青春时期，有个亲戚与马来同胞恋上了。恋爱大过天，那个年代嘛，家族长辈对友族保守或者说存有错误见解，因此狠狠地棒打鸳鸯，还是活生生地上演了。
可是，故事的最后，两人还是结婚了，有了小孩，从此过着属于彼此平凡的小日子。
在那个年纪的我还小，看待这件事是觉得爱情来了就来了，怎么拆最后是坏了关系。对方只要担起责任照顾自己的家庭，而家人们只要互相理解就好了。
我们在‘不同种族要互相理解、尊重’的说教中长大，而今整个社区、社群好像看到了成绩。这个年代，异族通婚越来越普遍，难道不正是互相尊重而成就的吗？对于这样的社会现象加上这个农历新年，编辑部就想着把农历新年与异族通婚结合，大伙儿真正走入生活之中，了解这一群众究竟怎么过年，而又是如何在尊重之间，彻底刻画出马来西亚和乐融融的社会真实面！
