Pandemik Covid-19 mungkin datang mengancam kesihatan penduduk juga ekonomi dunia, namun industri fesyen enggan duduk diam dan menyerah kalah! Barisan pereka tanah air termasuk Dato' Jovian Mandagie dan Melinda Looi, juga aktor Dato' Adi Putra dan jurulatih terkemuka, Syed Harris Umar, mengaktifkan diri untuk memperkasakan semangat rakyat di kala negara melalui perintah berkurung. Apa pula berita daripada model-model Malaysia sepanjang PKP ini? Di sebalik semua itu, fesyen musim bunga masih mekar dan segar - ketahui nama-nama hangat dan item-item wajib milik yang hadir menghidupkan senario stail si lelaki musim ini.

Bukan saja orang lama, malah orang kuat Hip-hop tanah air, Joe Flizzow tak pernah jemu berjuang demi Hip-hop dan masih punya perancangan besar buat genre muzik ini. Tahun ini, beliau bukan saja bakal mengakhiri zaman bujangnya malah akan hadir dengan album baru buat peminat. Lebih biasa kerja di belakang tabir, komposer dan penulis lagu Ezra Kong tampil ke depan untuk berkongsi cerita seninya. Ruangan fesyen pula menyelidiki faktor obsesi dalam pemasaran fesyen sambil mengupas trend gaya rambut yang mewarnai pentas peragaan musim bunga/panas 2020 ini.

Memandangkan Hari Wanita Sedunia diraikan Mac ini, GL memberi penghormatan untuk menghiasi sampul depan kali ini kepada girl group sensasi masa kini, De Fam. How did they meet, what are their plans dan apa sebenarnya maksud di sebalik single Panas? Merujuk jadual Minggu Fesyen Haute Couture pula, kami meletakkan spotlight pada fesyen avant garde – yang pelik, yang luar biasa, namun ikhlas dalam ekspresi kreativitinya – yang secara sikit demi sedikit semakin mempengaruhi stail tatagaya generasi media sosial. Dan jangan lupa amati kupasan trend untuk menswear musim bunga/panas 2020 ini! 

Menjelang Hari Memperingati Kekasih  bulan ini dan mewakili empat identiti dan gaya maskuliniti yang tersendiri, GL bertanyakan kepada rapper Altimet, pemuzik Josh Kua, fotografer Ridduan TTFGA Ismail dan penyanyi monoLoque, ‘Apakah maksud cinta di hati seorang lelaki?’ Dekati juga perkongsian jujur bakat cukup versatil, Alvin Chong, berkaitan pengalaman jatuh bangunnya sebagai seorang artis bukan Melayu yang mahu mencari rezeki dalam industri hiburan Melayu. Langsung dari bakat baru ke legenda lakonan, GL sempat berbual bicara bersama ikon tanah air, Faizal Hussein mengenai impaknya di dunia sinema tempatan.

Dato’ Setia Aubry Rahim Mennesson mewakili pegangan dan harapan generasi baru Lelaki Alfa yang lebih sensitif dan prihatin terhadap alam sekitar yang kita huni ini. Dan pabila cuaca mengganas, persalinan yang membaluti badan berfungsi bukan sekadar gaya semata, tapi juga perlindungan bak kepompong. Namun, tahun baru mengundang harapan baru. Sedar tak sedar, rapper, komposer juga produser ALIF adalah antara pengkarya seni yang telah mengarah arus muzik lokal dengan cukup signifikan tahun ini. Maka wajar kami julangkan sebagai Entertainer of the Year. Kami turut meneliti individu-individu paling berpengaruh sepanjang 12 bulan ini. Dan paparan fesyen pula mendekati himpunan opsyen segar untuk tampil bergaya kala rancangan liburan atau pesta hujung tahun kelak.  


Tak kira di permaidani merah, skrin televisyen, corong radio, litar lumba atau pentas peragaan, nama-nama barisan Alpha Men tahun ini adalah wajah-wajah A-list generasi baru. Sering diburu industri dan jenama-jenama mewah, mereka punya bakat dan pengaruh yang menyuntik energi segar ke dalam dunia glamor dan persada hiburan era ini.   


SIMFONI MODEN TROPIKA – Mahligai pertama yang dibina setelah berumah tangga dua tahun lalu, pasangan muda – Nadzra Mahmud bersama suami, Dr. Ibrahim Izham melakar inspirasi lewat kembara disulami pesona peribadi. Segmen Ilham menyuntik inspirasi penggayaan ruang makan dengan himpunan lengkap penataan meja makan. Fokus berkisar solusi renovasi dan make over ruang bersama tiga pakar dalam bidang masing-masing. Menampilkan empat model lelaki generasi kini – Afeq Saad, Al Adam, Kirill Mogan dan Syafir Shafein – yang paling rancak mencorak arena fesyen tanah air, dalam paparan fesyen terbesar setakat ini. GL membawa anda menerokai himpunan Musim Luruh/Sejuk 2019-2020, dari senario belakang pentas, menyusuri permaidani merah langsung ke pentas peragaan dan laman editorial. Tak lupa fokus pada barisan jam tangan jenama fesyen yang memadankan estetik edgy dengan komplikasi horologi yang menawan. 


Menghiasi sampul depan bulan ini, Tengku Syahmi adalah antara pereka yang dinanti-nantikan menjelang Minggu Fesyen Kuala Lumpur (KLFW). Untuk KLFW yang bakal berlangsung hujung bulan ini, Tengku Syahmi akan membawa satu lagi kelainan dengan membentangkan rekaan-rekaan lelaki dan wanita berinspirasikan busana pahlawan nusantara, yang memanfaatkan fabrik-fabrik kimono yang terbiar. Sempena Bukan Kemerdekaan ini juga, GL berbual bicara dengan dua wakil ekspatriat yang sudah lama menetap di Malaysia. Tak lupa juga, memandangkan Musim Luruh kian hampir, paparan fesyen meneliti seleksi kot luar dan helaian musim ini yang membuka ruang untuk lelaki membebaskan diri daripada sempadan fesyen untuk mencuba sesuatu yang lebih segar dan versatil.

GL meraikan detik signifikan ini dengan selebriti lelaki yang paling ramai pengikut di IG (5.9 juta!), tak lain tak bukan pelawak juga pelakon aksi yang kian relevan masa kini, Zizan Razak. Bulan Jun juga meraikan Hari Bapa dan kami mendekati influencer kecergasan, Danial Hansen bersama bapanya, Idris yang sama-sama menjadi sumber motivasi masing-masing. Jun juga tanda mulanya musim panas, dan paparan fesyen membariskan seleksi trend dan persalinan – dari fabric metalik ke celana pendek – yang boleh anda jadikan rujukan gaya ekspresi diri. Bulan ini genap 50 tahun sejak insiden 13 Mei 1969. Di manakah kita sebagai satu bangsa sekarang sejak peristiwa hitam itu? Bakat-bakat generasi baru, NewGen2019 memberi pandangan mereka tentang isu perkauman sambil berbicara tentang diri mereka selaku generasi milenial. GL turut merekrut bakat muda, Lunadira, untuk menghidupkan kesinambungan video lagu hit-nya, Ur Cute But Boring dalam versi paparan fesyen. Dan sempena bulan Ramadhan yang bakal tiba, amati trend semasa yang boleh dijadikan inspirasi gaya Raya anda tahun ini.


Musim Bunga/Panas kekal ekspresif dan bertenaga, apatah lagi bila musim ini membentangkan koleksi-koleksi debut barisan Pengarah Kreatif serba baru di rumah-rumah fesyen berpengaruh. Selain di pentas peragaan, fesyen juga menjadi penggerak industri perkahwinan dan bulan ini fokus diberikan pada busana Raja dan Ratu sehari yang punya identiti tersendiri. Ikuti juga bakat muda serba versatil yang namanya sering meniti bibir pengikut industri seni tempatan. Aiman Hakim Ridza sudah bersedia mengukir relevansi kehadirannya di pentas seni, baik dari segi lakonan mahupun nyanyian. Watch this space.


What does the future hold? Tema futuristik menjadi inspirasi bulan ini, dengan paparan fesyen dan horologi yang menterjemahkan gaya alaf baru dalam nafas yang segar dan distingtif. Bicara fasal masa depan, wira padang bola, Brendan Gan meniti perjalanan kariernya sambil merancang hala tujunya di hari-hari kemudian. Isu kali ini turut mengupas ajnas trend yang mewarnai Musim Bunga/Panas 2019 dengan analisa khas stail peribadi Freddie Mercury yang kekal ikonik.


Dalam memberi penghormatan kepada wanita, kami mengangkat dua bakat mempersona daripada dua generasi berbeza. Tampil dengan bakat versatil (dan signatur bibirnya yang menawan!) selaku pengacara, pelakon dan bintang fesyen terkini, Ain Edruce membuka cerita perihal kebangkitannya di dunia seni selain pendapatnya mengenai lelaki alfa dan peranan seorang feminis. Legenda moden, Misha Omar, pula merangkakan suatu ‘comeback’ sambil bersembang tentang legasi seninya setakat ini. Bulan ini juga melihatkan fokus pada aksesori artistik sebagai ekspresi gaya juga kod-kod sartorial yang mewarnai musim pra-bunga tahun ini.


Tahun 2018 merupakan tahun Hairul Azreen. PASKAL The Movie berjaya memecah panggung langsung melonjakkan status aktor ini ke aras A-list. Ikuti suka duka perjalanan seninya setakat ini, sedia menghadapi tahun 2019 dengan semangat yang berkobar-kobar. Satu semangat yang turut dirasai bakat cukup versatil, Tony Eusoff. Paparan fesyen pula mengetengahkan wajah generasi baru dunia lakonan – Atiq Azman, Nabil Aqil dan Dini Azan Schatzmann – yang menggayakan trend semasa musim ini. Yang baru takkan wujud tanpa yang lama. Selamat tahun baru, semua!


Adakah rupa penentu kejayaan? Sungguhpun fizikal sempurna persis peragawan high fashion dijadikan contoh spesimen manusia yang ideal, gerakan ‘Body Positivity’ semakin hangat diperbualkan dalam senario fesyen global. Lantas, GL meraikan kepelbagaian dalam rupa bentuk fizikal. Yang tinggi atau rendah, yang kurus atau berisi – masing-masing punya kekuatan dan kecantikan tersendiri. Bulan ini GL memperkenalkan model lelaki albino pertama Malaysia, Azfar Firdaus dalam paparan fesyen. Manakala bakat baru muzik hip hop, Airliftz, yang sering dikecam oleh netizen kerana wajahnya yang tidak normal diberi penghargaan menghiasi sampul depan GL bulan ini. Juga ikuti liputan desas-desus dunia hiburan lokal dan antarabangsa yang telah mewarnai tahun 2018.


Sebagai simbol juga kustodian warisan, adat dan kedaulatan bangsa, selain daripada gaya hidup yang glamor dan berbudaya, kerabat diraja sentiasa membuat kita terpesona. Maka, dalam meraikan GLAM Lelaki Alphamen tahun ini, kami memilih untuk menghargai barisan kerabat diraja  yang cukup berkarisma, segak dan berpengaruh terutamanya dalam sumbangan mereka terhadap kerja-kerja amal dan inisiatif mesra-rakyat. Tema Royalty ini dilanjutkan ke dalam paparan fesyen serba urban nan mewah. November ini juga melihatkan calon-calon Best Dressed Men yang menjadi rujukan stail lelaki alfa tahun ini.  


Sempena Hari Kesedaran Kesihatan Mental pada 13 hari bulan ini, GL meletakkan fokus pada isu kemurungan. Kerana lelaki juga punya kelemahan. Maka, pereka Joshua Fitton berkongsi perasaannya menangani ego sebagai lelaki alfa yang dihimpit depresi, lalu mencari jalan untuk kembali sihat dan positif. Lanjutan Minggu Fesyen KL yang lalu pula, paparan fesyen meneliti spirit nasionalisme yang terkandung dalam himpunan menswear Malaysia kini. Kami turut bentangkan gaya stail rambut terkini sebagai rujukan keterampilan peribadi anda.

Tarikh persaraannya yang sudah lama dirancang semakin hampir, dan rapper ulung tanahair, Altimet mahu melengkapkan legasinya dengan sebuah album terakhir yang cukup luar biasa. Sempena Hari Malaysia yang bakal tiba, ruangan fesyen pula meminjam aura laksamana Hang Tuah yang menggabungkan visual kreatif dengan busana urban. GL turut meneliti trend menswear semasa dan mempertanyakan: ke manakah kita?


Menjelang Sukan Asia 2018 yang bakal berlangsung di Jakarta bulan ini, jaguh nasional Ooi Tze Liang yang juga pemenang pingat emas Sukan Komanwel berkongsi cerita perjalanan dan persiapannya untuk menjadi juara. Jiwa patriotik diteruskan lagi sempena Hari Merdeka dengan temu bual bersama pengasas inisiatif perpaduan dan jati diri, Projek57. Semestinya juga, mengikut tradisi, edisi Ogos memaparkan laporan ekstensif Baselworld 2018 yang mempertemukan legasi dengan inovasi dunia horologi, khusus buat peminat tegar instrumen masa. 


Apa kos suatu perjuangan? Antara wajah kian menyerlah sejak Pilihanraya Umum Ke-14 yang lalu, YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman berdepan kritikan dan sogokan, juga mengorbankan satu impian emas, demi meneruskan baktinya demi rakyat tercinta. Dan apa pula kaitan fesyen dengan politik? Daripada uniform serba hitam Black Panthers di era 1960-an ke gerakan #tiedtogether di pentas Minggu Fesyen New York tahun lalu. Malah juga sandal Bata pilihan Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, fesyen bisa dijadikan penyampai mesej dan ideologi dari zaman ke zaman. Tidak ketinggalan paparan khas haruman mengikut tuntutan di waktu siang ataupun malam.


He’s back! Empat tahun setelah kali terakhir menghiasi sampul depan GL, the original Hero Malaya, Remy Ishak kembali – kali ini ditemani Puteri Aishah dan Azrel Ismail – membawa bersamanya kembara epik filem Pulang, sebuah karya cinta dan pengorbanan yang bakal menemui penonton tak lama lagi. Edisi kali ini turut menyediakan checklist khas untuk meraikan Hari Bapa selain mempamerkan helaian fesyen musim ini di sebalik seni kulinari yang tinggi.

Pelakon Syafiq Kyle menghiasi sampul depan edisi NEWGEN tahun ini, mewakili generasi baru personaliti tanahair yang mempertaruhkan bakat, wajah dan pengaruh tersendiri dalam dunia fesyen dan arena hiburan lokal, di antaranya Hafeez Mikail, Isa Khan dan Scott Rais. Kami turut menampilkan wajah kempen Inspirasi Cinta baru-baru ini, yakni pelakon dan peragawan, Miller Khan yang berkongsi pengalamannya satu dekad bergelar anak seni. Ruangan fesyen memberi idea dan inspirasi untuk musim Lebaran yang bakal menjelang, selain melaporkan berita-berita industri fesyen yang menjadi bualan hangat kebelakangan ini.


Mengakhiri zaman bujang merupakan satu langkah besar dalam hidup seseorang lelaki. Bulan ini GL meraikan momen paling bahagia si Raja sehari dengan seleksi tuksedo dan sut dilengkapi ajnas aksesori unik untuk menjulang stail peribadi anda menjelang resepsi istimewa anda kelak. Mempelai lelaki juga perlu tampil berseri, dan aneka rawatan masker boleh menjamin wajah yang lebih bersih dan yakin di hari persandingan. Bicara fasal perkahwinan, leading man Fattah Amin menghiasi sampul depan edisi kali ini dan berkongsi cerita metamorfosisnya yang kini sudah bergelar suami.

Baru saja dianugerahkan trofi berprestij Juara Lagu ke-32 bulan lalu, penyanyi Hael Husaini menghiasi muka depan GL kali ini sambil menggayakan himpunan baru musim bunga 2018. Ikuti cerita kesungguhan Hael yang bermula daripada kosong hingga berjaya membina status sebagai penyanyi solo dan komposer muda yang disegani kini. GL turut merakam seleksi gaya fesyen lokal juga persalinan mesra alam, sambil mencipta momen fesyen bersama pelbagai spesies haiwan peliharaan dalam usaha kami untuk memupuk budaya cintakan alam semulajadi. Tidak lupa juga profil khusus Fairuz Hamdan, antara pereka pertama yang berjaya menggegarkan senario menswear di Malaysia.  


Is there a stronger power couple than Scha & Awal? Pasangan sensasi ini berkongsi momen cinta bersemi antara mereka selain merungkai karier seni dan evolusi mereka selaku ikon fesyen tanahair. Dalam bulan di mana GL secara tradisi meraikan wanita, GL meletakkan fokus pada isu feminisme kini dan berbual bicara bersama aktivis, Deborah Henry. Sempena pembukaan Ola Bola The Musical di Istana Budaya bulan Feb ini pula, kami tampilkan lima pelakon utamanya dalam paparan fesyen bertunjangkan gaya preppy ease, sambil mereka bersiap sedia untuk mempersembahkan teater muzikal terbesar di rantau ini!  


Tahun baru semestinya membakar semangat baru dalam perancangan hidup. Aktor, penerbit dan ikon fitness, Idris Khan akan mengakhiri zaman bujangnya bulan ini, setelah menggegarkan arena perfileman negara dengan karya KL Wangan, hasil penerbitannya bersama Pekin Ibrahim dan rakan-rakan lain, yang baru dikeluarkan bulan lalu. GL juga mendekati dua atlet muda negara – jaguh pelontar diskus, Irfan Sham, bersama gimnas, Chau Jern Rong – untuk mengetahui azam dan komitmen mereka. Ruangan Fesyen menerokai trend athleisure; paparan Segak Rapi pula memberi fokus pada penjagaan rapi agar anda tampil lebih segar dan konfiden untuk 2018.

Yakni berkelana bukan saja sebagai satu ekplorasi destinasi pelancongan tetapi juga sebagai usaha ke arah kesejahteraan peribadi. Mencari pengajaran di sebalik hasrat merantau ke bumi asing. Penjelajahan merentasi sempadan antarabangsa ini disemarakkan lagi oleh aura pelakon Korea, Peter Lee Jae-yoon yang berkongsi hala tuju karier seni dan pengalaman pengembaraan peribadinya.
