Rising ocean waters are threatening to shrink Kiribati’s land area and displace its people long before the islands are submerged. However, there is silver lining in the form of the visionary Kiribati Adaption Program of the World Bank and judicious help from New Zealand and Australia.

In the Feature article titled, 'Telineelapuram Bird Sanctuary: A Safe Haven for Pelicans and Painted Storks' the authors highlight that Telineelapuram and Telukunchi Bird Sanctuaries are a safe refuge for winged tourists, such as pelicans and painted storks. The authors reminiscence their visit to Telineelapuram village, where they made firsthand observations on pelicans and painted storks and their congenial relationship with human beings.

In the Special Report titled, ‘Rat-Hole Mines in Meghalaya: An Environmental and Social Bane' the author points out that in December 2018, 15 miners perished in Meghalaya after flooding occurred in a so called ‘rat-hole’coal mine. These are part of the illegal mining industry that plagues Meghalaya and other parts of India. The author reports on the environmental and human cost of the practice and immense challenges faced by the state to curb the menace.
