Magazine Description

In this issue

Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are exogenous substances that are found in various materials such as pesticides, metals, additives or contaminants in food, and personal care products. Human exposure to EDCs occurs via ingestion of food, dust and water, via inhalation of gases and particles in the air, and through the skin. In this article, Aishwarya Manish and Piyush Mohapatra look into the health impacts of EDCs on humans and wildlife, and also throw light on the various types of EDCs. They conclude that EDCs are silently creeping into our ecosystem as well as body. If adequate actions are not taken in time, it will be a public health issue very soon, and therefore, it is imperative to learn about common EDCs and their sources in order to strengthen our knowledge to find safer alternatives.
