In the Cover Story titled, 'Human Affinities with Indigenous Plants ', the author highlights a few inimitable examples of human affinities and affiliations with indigenous plants by several native communities in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. He says that indigenous communities in these parts of Karnataka are known to perceive nature and plants as an extended manifestation of the divine power and, therefore, they either venerate these plants or use them as ‘cultural resources’ in their customs, mores, and rituals. In the Special Report titled, 'Reviving Nature: Environmental Engineers to Nature’s Rescue', the author says that environmental engineering is a branch of engineering concerned with the application of scientific and engineering principles so that the adverse effects of the depletion of environmental resources are mitigated and there is improvement in the overall ecological system. She also says that she has been intrigued by environmental engineering as a subject since the days when she was a student, and further examines the origin of the subject along with some noteworthy work done in this field. The Feature article titled, 'Hydrogen as Fuel for the Transportation Sector ',examines the potential of hydrogen as a fuel in improving air quality and in providing energy security to the respective nations. The authors have also discussed the challenges associated with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles while analysing the way forward.
