A lot to look forward to!

June has been a very successful month for Logistics with India moving up to 35th place on World Bank's Logistics Performance Index. Numerous giants have also reported expansions, and surge in sales and profit. We can expect a healthy logistics business with opportunities in the coming months. India has jumped 19 places in the World Banks Logistics performance Index, from 54th place to 35th. This was announced by the World Bank Group in the recent launch of its report. With a huge jump of 19 places, India has crossed many countries like New Zealand, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Iceland, Latvia and Indonesia who were ahead of it in the index.Among the six sub-indices of the Logistics Performance Index, India improved the most on "the efficiency of customs and border management clearance", jumping from 65 in 2014 to 38 in 2016.Apart from this, we can see a healthy monsoon across India. This will lead to better agricultural growth in rural areas and raise the demand of Logistics in rural areas. This can be an area to look for all the companies looking for expansion. In the monsoon session of Parliament, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is likely to see the light of the day. That would be one of the most significant competition reforms India would adopt in recent times to create an internal market.

Logistics in India has been going through a rollercoaster for quite a while now. With no significant development in the exports of the country logistics is facing quite a harsh time at present. The market is becoming more and more fragmented and it is in nobody’s hands right now. It is becoming harder to manage this sector because of new companies emerging every day. We are in strong need of consolidation, something that can club all the companies together and tame this unmanaged sector. We need a common platform for everything to be done, a single window for all logistics needs, which will provide us with better direction. 
One such solution is the e-services in logistics. We can follow the steps of the e-supermarkets like Flipkart, Amazon and many others. These companies have provided a single platform for users to purchase almost everything one desires. Imagine if consumers and service providers have a single platform where both can match the demand and supply. This brings us to the main highlight of this issue – the new age of logistics. 
We believe that with proper implementation of e-services we can achieve a consolidated market that will erase the ever-marked tag of ‘unorganized sector’ from Logistics. It is high time we break the barriers of this sector, and consolidation is the key!

Logistics growth stuck in traffic jams! Logistics is all about movement; movement of goods from one place to another; movement via air, surface, railways, and roads. It is the movement because of which we can enjoy facilities like goods which are manufactured all around the globe. Change Is The Only Constant About Us!!

An array of events unfolded in February, which brought much elation and cheer for Logistics sector but at the same time. it had its downsides too. With Union- Budget and Railway-Budget rolling out, people went  through a roller-coaster of expectations, but all agree that the budget had a pragmatic approach. Talking about the positives, it looks like Logistics sector is finally coming into the limelight. The budget gave a boost to make more advanced and modernized ports which surely was a reason to celebrate for Logistics sector.

Railway budget also included some good news especially for the Logistics sector that came with announcement of 10 new logistics parks spread across the country, three new dedicated freight corridors, and  investments towards startups and infrastructure. It looks like India is picking up pace in this technology race. We can witness the shift from manual to machine, from paper to computerized, from traditional to digital. It  is time when India is revving up the 'GO GREEN GO DIGITAL' slogans and Logistics industry cannot stay untouched by this wave of change. We can see a lot of new software, online services, even mobile apps dedicated to logistics. Now people are booking orders, while comparing prices with other companies at ease of their homes.
