Highlights of India Today 17th April 2017, issue: The India Today cover story of the week is about a Bengaluru-based start-up which is competing with four international teams for a $20-million prize to land a rover on the moon. If TeamIndus wins, they will become the first private enterprise in the world to build and land a spacecraft and have a rover ride the surface of the moon. The lunar rover is called Ek Chhoti Si Asha (ECA).
The big story in this week's issue is about Supreme Court's December 15, 2016, verdict banning liquor sale within 500 metres of national and state highways. The story looks at how, in the aftermath of the court’s order, state governments are now desperate to find loopholes and exemptions that will protect the liquor trade and their excise revenue.
The story, Oxfords of the East, looks at whether China’s bid to build world-class universities to attract top foreign minds can succeed even as the Communist Party continues to maintain a tight grip on political and intellectual freedoms.
The story Sindhu Rising looks at India’s rising badminton star PV Sindhu who has gradually been rising up the ranking ladder since her run at Rio 2016. Now, she’s one notch away from the top
The issue also carries an exclusive interview with Pink star Taapsee Pannu in which she talks about books, movies and her family.
