Highlights of Harper’s Bazaar India June 2017 , issue: Our cover star is supermodel Lakshmi Menon who was shot by Delhi-based photographer Bikramjit Bose. The cover story is a conversation with her friend and photographer Sacha Mendes. It is an intimate tête-à-tête about the different aspects of Menon's life and the values she holds dear - sustainable living, the power of empathy, and the importance of being true to your identity. The issue's focus is on two things: Style and reading. The former looks at the people who define what 'style' is in their own unique ways such as Rhea Kapoor, Kalyani Chawla), and Pernia Qureshi. Also included is a story on the remarkable journey of actor Jane Fonda through her storied career. The reading focused parts look into a return to the simple joy of reading an actual book. This is done through essays on the nostalgia brought about by the smell of old books by Jerry Pinto, a celebration of the enduring appeal of Jane Austen by Anjali Joseph, the commitment it takes to set a goal of reading a book a week by Esha Mahajan, and a photoshoot of the books we have all come to love and know over the years (eg: Capital by Rana Dasgupta, The Lives of Others by Neil Mukherjee, and Fairy Tales at 50 by Upamanyu Chatterjee). The beauty section has feature on the iconic makeup artist for Bollywood, Mickey Contractor, and his new collection for M.A.C. For travel, author Siddharth Dasgupta writes about the best bookstores and book cafés around the world from Dharamsala in India to Santorini in Greece. There is also a look into the greats of the fashion industry - an exclusive interview by Nonita Kalra with Christian Louboutin, the Chanel Cosmopolite Pre-Fall '17 show at the Hôtel Ritz in Paris, and the remarkable journey of Christopher Bailey at Burberry.

Jane's Incredible Journey

The Hollywood firmament was hers by paternal inheritance, but Jane Fonda was always aware there was something else. At 79, the actor laureate, writer, fitness guru, and veteran social activist feels fulfilled, youthful, and optimistic about her “third act”.
