The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Friday released a list of 173 candidates who will contest in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 6. DMK chief MK Stalin will once again contest from the constituency of Kolathur. His son Udhayanidhi Stalin will be making his electoral debut from Chepauk-Triplicane seat.

Police shot the main accused in the case of stabbing of two persons following the row over removal of Veer Savarkar's flex from a circle of Shivamogga city.
The police action happened late Monday night when the accused tried to attack the policemen and was shot in the leg, and put under arrest.
The flex of Veer Savarkar was put up as part of the celebration of the 75th year of Independence. The main accused, who had been shot at during the police action, has been identified as Zabiulla, a resident of Marnamibail in Shivamogga. The police have detained more than 10 persons so far in connection with the incident.

The state government has decided to hand over investigation of BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru murder case to National Investigation Agency (NIA), Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

The Bengaluru police on Monday detained another youth who was suspected to be a terrorist from Tamil Nadu. Droupadi Murmu has been elected as the 15th President of India, NDA's presidential candidate crossed the 50 per cent mark of total valid votes at the end of the third round of counting. In the third round, a total of 1,333 votes were valid. The total value of valid votes is 1,65,664. Droupadi Murmu got 812 votes, and Yashwant Sinha got 521 votes. According to Returning Officer PC Mody, up to the third round, the cumulative total valid votes was 3,219 with a total value of 8,38,839 of which Droupadi Murmu gets 2,161 votes of the value of 5,77,777. Syria announced Wednesday that it was severing ties with Ukraine in support of its close ally Russia, saying the move was a response to a similar move by Kyiv.
 The Syrian Arab Republic has decided to break diplomatic relations with Ukraine in conformity with the principle of reciprocity and in response to the decision of the Ukrainian government, a foreign ministry official, who was not identified, sources reported.
