India on Wednesday showcased its home-grown fighter Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas at
the 13th edition of the biennial Aero India 2021, with a spectacular display of its strike

Karnataka's Education Minister B.C. Nagesh on Monday an - nounced that the state government is contemplating on commencing the teaching of the Bhagavad Gita in schools and colleges across the state from this academic year onwards. Nagesh made the remarks while replying to a query during the Assembly session. We are contemplating to begin teaching the Bhagavad Gita from this academic year. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said he clarified his Kerala counterpart that it is not possible to take up any development works in ecologically sensitive areas and in wildlife sanctuaries.

The state government has released over Rs 300 crore as crop input subsidy in last one week following large-scale damage to crops due to heavy rains in the month of July and August, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Talking to reporters after inaugurating the newly-built office of Commissioner of Police at a cost of Rs 18.50 crore on Police Parade Ground here on Saturday, he said the crop subsidy is released immediately after the receipt of report from the deputy commissioners. Hitherto, this process was taking years together but now once loss was uploaded in software the crop input subsidy was disbursed to farmers sooner. The government has fixed Rs 13, 600 from Rs 6800 per hectare as crop input subsidy for dry farming, from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 for irrigated land and to Rs 28,000 from Rs 18,000 for horticulture crop per hectare. This amount much more than the crop input subsidy as specified under NDRF guidelines.

President Droupadi Murmu on Friday urged citizens to work collectively towards the elimination of Tuberculosis from the country by 2025 on a war footing, as she virtually launched the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Lauding the government's initiative to provide community support to TB patients through the 'Ni-kshay 2.0' portal under which TB patients can be adopted and cared for by an individual, elected representatives or institutions, she urged everyone to make the campaign a people's movement. When a welfare scheme is made in the interest of people, its chances of success increase manifold, she said in her address. Murmu said of all the infectious diseases, the maximum number of people die in India due to tuberculosis and of the total TB patients in the world, more than 25 per cent are in India, calling it a matter of concern.
