The Karnataka cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal to form the state’s 31st district - Vijayanagara, which will be carved out of Ballari district in the northern part of the state. The decision is a major boost for Forest Minister Anand Singh who has championed the campaign for a new Vijayanagara district. 

The Karnataka cabinet on Thursday decided to repeal the anti-conversion law brought in by the previous BJP government.

A 10-member CBI team, which is in Odisha to probe the triple train accident, inspected the tracks, signal room and talked to railway officials at Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore district on Tuesday.
