Making a strong pitch for India's inclusion as a permanent member of United Nations Security Council, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said "reform in the responses, in the processes, and in the very character of the United Nations is the need of the hour" and wondered as to how long India with its unique contribution to the UN will be "kept out of the decision-making structures" of the world body.

Hours after he was disqualified from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in a defamation case, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said he is fighting for the voice of India and is ready to pay any price for it. 
Earlier in the day, the Lok Sabha in a notification announced the Congress leader’s disqualification. I am fighting for the voice of India. I am ready to pay any price, he tweeted in Hindi.

A division bench of the Karnataka High Court on Friday allowed a petition filed by the state government on conducting public exams for Classes 5 and 8, but with certain conditions. The court directed the government to conduct the examinations from March 27 and said that no student should be failed.

Government employees in Karnataka on Wednesday withdrew their indefinite strike after the State government announced a 17 per cent hike in basic salary as interim relief and constituted a committee on the pension scheme.
The employees had demanded interim relief of 40 per cent increase in basic salary and revision of salaries as per the 7th Pay Commission.
The order will be applicable to the employees of the local bodies under the State government and the government-aided educational institutions.
The local bodies will bear the expenses benefiting the employees working there.
